Wall Street was headed for its fifth straight losing week Friday — the longest such streak in almost four years — according to the Associated Press.
The S&P dropped 1%, adding to losses from a day earlier, when it saw its worst drop since the beginning of the war with Iran. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq composite fell 1.1% and 1.4%, respectively.
Oil prices began climbing again, with the price for a barrel of Brent crude rising 2.5% to $104.39 — up from around $70 before the war began. Benchmark U.S. crude was up 4.3% to $98.59 per barrel.
Among big tech stocks, Amazon and Meta Platforms shares dropped 3% and 3.4%, respectively.
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings lost 5.5%, Air Bnb fell 5.3% and Lululemon Athletica slipped 3.8%.
Netflix added 0.4% a day after announcing price increases to its U.S. services.
