Gov. Scott Walker has signed Act 1, otherwise known as the right-to-work bill, making Wisconsin the 25th state in the nation to adopt a law preventing companies from forcing employees to pay union dues. The measure, which Walker had earlier said would be a “distraction,” was fast-tracked through the state Legislature, despite protests from labor groups and their supporters.
