Governor Scott Walker has signed an executive order to provide automatic state certification to minority, woman, and disabled veteran-owned businesses that have certified in the past.

The order covers 1,429 DOA-certified businesses in Wisconsin.

“Streamlining the process for state certification will help these businesses save money by eliminating needless administrative costs associated with repeated certifications,” Walker said.

A business that is already certified by federal or local government will now be able to have all of their application requirements and procedures for state business certification waived if the Wisconsin DOA determines the agency that certified the business has a certification procedure that is substantially equivalent to its own.
