Wal-Mart Stores announced a three-part plan to help the U.S. economy by spending $50 billion to bring more American-made merchandise to its shelves over the next 10 years while also hiring more than 100,000 veterans over the next five years and helping part-timers move more quickly into full-time positions. Wal-Mart is the world’s largest retailer and the country’s biggest private employer. According to a report in TheWashington Times, if Wal-Mart were a country, its $444 billion in annual revenue would rank among the largest economies in the world.
