Virtual events planned for MLK observance

The local observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday will include a keynote from Eddie S. Glaude, New York Times bestselling author and chair of the Department of African Studies at Princeton University. The Dane County observance will take place on Monday, Jan. 18, from 6 to 7 p.m. and be held virtually.

The event, emceed by Angela Fitzgerald, host of Wisconsin Life on Wisconsin Public Television, will also feature the presentation of the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award by Dane County Executive Joe Parisi and Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.

Other events are planned in conjunction with the observance including an ecumenical worship service, youth call to service, and Women in Focus Dream Ball.
