In response to Sauk County’s elevated overdose death rate, Vintage Brewery, which also has three Madison-area locations, has taken a significant step to enhance its ability to assist individuals experiencing drug overdoses on or near its Sauk City premises, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.

On Dec. 21, Vintage Brewery installed an overdose aid kit near its bar, marking the first business in Sauk County to house the comprehensive equipment package. The kit, provided by the Sauk County Health Department, includes essential items such as Narcan spray, breathing masks, and other devices crucial for reviving someone who has overdosed.

Vintage staff underwent training in revival tactics and learned how to utilize each component of the kit. The health department collaborated with Start Healing Now, a Wisconsin-based volunteer nonprofit dedicated to aiding individuals struggling with substance abuse and their families on the path to recovery. The kit was provided to Vintage at no cost.

Brewery co-owner Brittany Kraemer emphasized that the decision to install the overdose kits at all four Vintage locations was a proactive measure. The Vintage location on University Avenue in Madison is slated to receive a kit in February.
