Dr. LaVar Charleston is stepping down as UW–Madison’s vice chancellor in the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Educational Achievement (DDEEA). A review of the division’s finances yielded concerns.
Charleston led the division for the past three years and will leave his role to resume his backup position as a clinical professor in the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. An ongoing review of DDEEA’s finances revealed concern over its financial operations and fiscal judgments.
Provost Charles Isbell Jr. will serve as acting director of DDEEA until the appointment of an interim director.
