Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster response organization, is launching an operation in the Dane County communities of Mazomanie, Cross Plains, and Black Earth, to assist in ongoing flood response and recovery efforts. Operation Muck’em Bucky began on Monday, August 27 and is anticipated to last 16 days.
In coordination with local and state authorities, Team Rubicon volunteers will provide: muck outs, spontaneous volunteer management, and debris management/removal for affected communities.
Dane County residents who would like to request assistance can dial 211. Due to limited resources, a report of need is not a guarantee of volunteer aid, according to a release.
Meanwhile, several local banks are lending a financial hand to those affected by recent flooding.
Wisconsin Bank & Trust will donate $5 to the American Red Cross — up to $2,500 total — for anyone who visits one of its three participating banking centers during regular business hours Aug. 28–31. Participating centers are the main branch on Junction Road in Madison, as well as the Fitchburg and Cottage Grove locations. The public is welcome to participate.
Additionally, The Peoples Community Bank, Mazomanie, has established the Mazomanie Area Flood Assistance Fund, and the State Bank of Cross Plains has orchestrated a Disaster Recovery Account in connection with the United Way, as well as coordinated and volunteered in wide-ranging relief efforts in the bank’s communities.
