The Verona School District has moved to purchase 40 acres of land west of the city. The land, in the West End/retail/residential development owned by Vanta Commercial Properties (fka T. Wall Properties), had previously been earmarked for commercial development, including a shopping center anchored by a big-box store, but over the years only apartments remained a viable option. The fast-growing school district is eyeing the property for a future school, but its purchase would first need to be approved by Verona residents in a November referendum. Nothing is imminent, according to a report at connectverona.com.
