The Verona City Council approved plans from developers David Reinke and KSW Construction for a 231-room Hyatt Place/Hyatt House hotel that would be one of the largest hotels in Dane County. The four-story, 193,000-square-foot building will be located along Hwy. 151 in the Liberty Business Park near Epic Systems, now Dane County’s largest employer with 7,400 workers. Hyatt Place is the hotel chain’s brand for shorter stays, while the 2-year-old Hyatt House brand is designed for extended stays.
Officials would like to break ground within three to nine months, with construction taking up to 18 months.
Two other hotels currently call Verona home: a 43-room Super 8 and a 109-room Holiday Inn Express and Suites. An earlier-approved Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites should break ground later this summer.
