During a Verona Common Council meeting Monday, alders unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a new day care facility, according to the Verona Press. The facility would be located at 301 Prairie Heights Drive.

Its close proximity to a highway led to questions regarding safety at a public hearing on Aug. 7, but the applicant worked with staff and the Plan Commission to ensure a safe environment for the day care.

The council also approved a special event permit and liquor license for the Verona Area Chamber of Commerce’s Fall Fest. The decision will allow guests to leave the beer tent with drinks; the Chamber plans to fence in the event site to prevent drinks from leaving the premises.

Fall Fest takes place on Friday, Oct. 6–Saturday, Oct. 7 at Festival Park and will include hayrides, pumpkin carving, an outdoor movie, a petting zoo, a farmers market, food trucks, and a beer tent. Saturday’s festivities will also include a Badger game tailgate.
