The city of Verona’s Common Council on April 14 approved the annexation of land from the Town of Verona following SSM Health’s previously-announced plans to construct a new campus there offering primary and specialty care, The Verona Press reports. The 140-acre site is located west of Highway 69, south of Highway 18/151 and north of Valley Road.
Ninety-seven acres of the annexed land is owned by SSM Health, which per the annexation agreement must develop it in phases. An initial phase will construct the 40,000-square-foot clinic over 20 acres. Verona is also requiring that SSM Health dedicate land for a potential DNR trail connection, bridge and multiuse path across Highway 18/151 to city-owned land.
