The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention approved the Pfizer vaccine for children ages 5–11 and Public Health Madison and Dane County may roll out vaccine clinics within days, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The pediatric shots can be administered at vaccination sites such as the Alliant Energy Center after clinical guidance is handed down from federal officials and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Health officials estimate that they can accommodate 200 vaccinations per day at current staffing levels and are preparing for a push to vaccinate children ages 5–11 working with pediatricians. Pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens can begin vaccinating newly eligible children immediately and do not need to await guidance because they are not part of a federal vaccination program.
