The Waunakee Village Board this week approved a resolution that will redevelop a vacant Waun-a-Clean property, according to The Waunakee Tribune.
Members voted in favor of a resolution that declares the property as blighted; a redevelopment plan; and a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant application. The board also approved terms for an agreement to purchase the property from Summit Credit Union.
The property has reportedly remained vacant for several years, and chemicals discovered in the ground have been found to cause negative environmental impacts. The application for the EPA’s Brownfield Cleanup Grant looks to respond to the issue.
