Following last year’s debut of the Universities of Wisconsin’s Direct Admit program, the system has automatically accepted thousands more Wisconsin high school seniors for fall 2026, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
In July, UW sent admissions offers to 33,523 high school seniors from 467 Wisconsin schools, UW President Jay Rothman said Wednesday. That marked an increase of at least 9,000 offers over the previous year.
The number of participating statewide high schools saw an increase as well, climbing by 155 and representing around 60% of all Wisconsin high schools and 70% of all public statewide high schools.
Direct Admit Wisconsin is designed to bolster enrollment and graduation rates by automatically admitting eligible students to up to 10 of UW’s 13 universities, with no application required.
The program does not include UW-Madison, UW-La Crosse or UW-Eau Claire.
