UW–Madison’s Diversity Forum seeks presentation proposals

UW–Madison’s 2024 Diversity Forum, themed “Threads of Belonging: Navigating Differences and Building Community” and hosted by the Division of Diversity, Equity & Educational Achievement (DDEEA), is seeking proposals from qualified individuals to present at breakout sessions.

The two-day professional development event will be on Nov. 13–14 at Union South on the UW–Madison campus. Proposals will be considered between now and June 10. 

The Diversity Forum is the largest annual conference in the Midwest centered on the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The event features speakers and educational sessions exploring diversity and inclusion topics.

The DDEEA is seeking proposals for 75-minute breakout sessions that will be facilitated in person and streamed online. These sessions can take the form of workshops, panel discussions, or lectures. Proposals should be based on research and provide evidence-based insights that explore the intricacies of human behavior to deepen understanding and foster inclusive communities.

Successful proposals will meet some or all of the following criteria: 

  • Align with the forum’s mission to update, educate, and activate attendees;

  • Provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the latest research and best practices in creating and/or promoting inclusive environments that facilitate belonging or success;

  • Respond to or build upon the conference theme;

  • Help increase attendees’ understanding of matters of specific importance to people from underrepresented, underutilized, and/or historically minoritized populations ; and

  • Provide a starting point for discussion, self-learning, or interactive work among attendees.
