The University of Wisconsin–Madison jumped two spots to No. 13 as one of the best public universities in America, according to the latest ranking from U.S. News & World Report. UW was bolstered by its undergraduate business and engineering programs. U.S. News & World Report ranks colleges annually using a variety of metrics including graduation rates and average class size.
The top 10 public schools, according to the survey, was UCLA, followed by Cal-Berkeley, Michigan, Virginia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Cal-Santa Barbara, Florida, Cal-Irvine, and Cal-San Diego. As a side note, within that grouping, out-of-state tuition ranged from a high of $51,200 at Michigan to $28,658 at the University of Florida. The report shows UW–Madison’s out-of-state tuition at $37,785.
Among all universities, UW’s position also rose slightly to a ranking of 46, up from 49 last year.
