UW–Madison Police Chief Kristen Roman has resigned, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The move comes amid a university investigation into alleged workplace misconduct.
The university made the announcement of Roman’s resignation Monday but did not at the time give a reason for the chief’s departure. The previous assistant chief for administration and support, Brent Plisch, has been named interim chief. The university will seek a new police chief through a national search.
Roman had served as a police chief since 2017 and reached the rank of captain previously with the Madison Police Department, during which time she led community outreach efforts.
Plisch has been with the department since 2005 and previously served as a captain with the U.S. Army.
