UWHealth has added a feature to its MyChart system that would notify patients who may be a good fit for a research study, NBC15 reports. The move is aimed at putting money in patients’ pockets, as some studies offer participants paid rewards, in addition to aiding research on cures and new treatments.
A patient’s suitability for clinical trials and studies is assessed based on health information in MyChart and is evaluated before participation is offered. Offers can be viewed on a new “research” tab in MyChart. Patients can also opt out of notifications.
UWHealth has seen a 25% response rate on research participation offers since the feature’s release.
