UW to partner with electric vehicle startup

Canoo, a California startup developing electric vans and trucks, will partner with the University of Wisconsin–Madison to create an electric propulsion research center on campus, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. The terms of the signed memorandum of understanding between the two organizations were not disclosed. The College of Engineering will lead the effort, which also aims to create internships and other opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. A $35,000 minivan is scheduled to be brought to market in 2022 followed by a delivery van and pickup truck built on the same platform in 2023.
