The UW System will rebrand in the coming months to become “Universities of Wisconsin,” according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The move looks to strengthen the UW reputation across all 13 System schools and is the first major name change for UW since 1971.

The institution’s legal name will remain “UW System,” but officials will begin referring to its 13 universities collectively by the revised name. UW will transition its webpages and written materials to reflect the new identity by early 2024.

UW will also replace its current logo with one that shows only “UW” inside a Wisconsin outline. A secondary logo will include the 13 universities’ locations spread out like a constellation.

The rebranding will also include a new motto, “Future Ready. For All.” The motto aims to reflect UW’s need to educate more students to meet current and future employer demand.
