UW rolls out plans to bolster entrepreneurship

The Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents on Feb. 7 outlined plans to bolster entrepreneurship and drive economic growth across Wisconsin, according to The Badger Herald. Jon Eckhardt, special advisor to the chancellor for entrepreneurship, is leading a UW–Madison initiative aimed at supporting students, faculty, and alumni in launching businesses — a move recommended by a study Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin commissioned last year.

The university’s new entrepreneurship plan will focus on:

  • Building leadership and business structure;

  • Fostering a culture that supports entrepreneurship; and

  • Boosting access to capital.

UW–Madison will expand on its 60 entrepreneurship programs and courses and continue offering Innovate Network, Discovery to Product, the Technology Entrepreneurship Office, and similar services.
