In its latest rankings of American universities, U.S. News and World Report rated UW-Madison as the 13th best public university and 47th best college overall. Those numbers are down a bit from last year, when UW ranked 11th and 41st.
The best public college, according to this year’s report, is California at Berkley. Michigan, at number four, was the highest-ranked public school in the Big Ten.
