To boost recruiting competitiveness, the University of Wisconsin athletic department is hoping to spend nearly $300 million on a new indoor football practice facility, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. The facility would replace the Camp Randall Sports complex — known as the Shell — next to Camp Randall Stadium and move its indoor track into the McClain Center. The request is included in the Board of Regents’ capital budget request for 2023–25. The new building would include an indoor football field and performance and treatment space, along with underground parking lot for as many as 330 vehicles.
