After realizing it had reported incorrect figures regarding its student acceptance rate, UW–Madison’s graduate engineering school fell out of U.S. News and World Report’s top-15 national ranking.
The College of Engineering’s graduate program had been ranked number 14 among engineering schools nationally based on a reported 2015 acceptance rate of 8.9%, In fact, that number should been 18.7% based on 6,172 applications that resulted in 1,154 accepted students.
The university maintains the error was not intentional, but rather a result of errors made when accessing an admissions database.
U.S. News and World Report now classifies the school as “unranked.”
