The UW Police Department’s interim leader, Brent Plisch, has now been named permanent police chief, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Plisch is the third individual to take the position in over 30 years and the first new chief in nearly a decade.

Plisch joined the department in 2005 as an officer and has held administrative roles since 2017. He succeeds former chief Kristen Roman, who resigned last February in the midst of a university investigation into alleged workplace misconduct.

Plisch’s permanent police chief role will take effect March 16. He was selected from four finalists by a 13-person search committee.
