The University of Wisconsin-Platteville began offering continuing education in cannabis this month, Wisconsin Public Radio reports.
The online classes teach cannabis cultivation, compliance and the safe use of marijuana.
The program was created with California-based Green Flower, a company that offers training materials for cannabis professionals.
Erin Withrow, program manager with the Continuing Education Institute at UW-Platteville, told WPR the skills from the program can be applied to health care, entrepreneurship and farming.
There are six career path focuses and certificates: Cannabis Associate Certificate, Cannabis Cultivation Specialist, Cannabis Product Development Specialist, Cannabis Retail and Sales Specialist, Cannabis Compliance Specialist and Medical Cannabis Specialist.
Some reports show that jobs in cannabis have more than tripled between 2017 and 2022.
