The University of Wisconsin-Madison is set to lay off 31 employees and leave 156 positions vacant, according to a Cap Times report.
Universities have been hit hard with financial challenges stemming from the federal government, with UW-Madison receiving about a quarter of its funding from the federal government. According to the report, there could be more shakeups at UW-Madison in the coming weeks.
Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin confirmed in June that cuts would be made. Administrators instructed schools to shrink budgets by 5% over the school year. Administrative units received a 7% cut.
