The University of Wisconsin-Madison may add a new residence hall to combat overcrowding.
According to the Cap Times, the state Department of Administration sent a request for proposals on Thursday to contractors for a dorm that could support 1,500 to 2,000 beds.
The dorm would be built on state property near campus.
The deadline for RFPs is July 16.
The new residence hall could be located at either 919 and 965 W. Dayton St., or UW-Madison Parking Lot 45 on North Mills Street.
The university is facing a housing problem. Last fall, dorms were at 116% capacity. To address the issue, the campus has turned double rooms into triple rooms and converted study rooms into resident rooms.
