The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s overall enrollment held steady this fall despite an anticipated decline in the number of graduate and international students, The Capital Times reports.
The university also welcomed around 1,000 of Wisconsin’s top students through a new program this fall, according to its latest enrollment numbers.
UW-Madison enrolled roughly 3,100 new graduate and professional students this school year — a 9% decrease from fall 2024 — and overall the Graduate School admitted 12% fewer students this fall compared to the prior year.
The total number of international students dropped by 490 — or 7% — from last year, and enrollment of new international graduate students declined by 29% compared to fall 2024.
