University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin is set to receive a $150,000 bonus if she remains in her current role through the end of June, The Capital Times reports. The UW Board of Regents approved the “retention incentive” last summer with the goal of creating what UW spokesperson Mark Pitsch called “continuity at our flagship university where total compensation is not competitive with its peers.”
Mnookin assumed her position as chancellor in 2022 with a base salary of $750,000 and by 2024 was making over $892,000 due to “catch-up base salary increases” the Board of Regents approved. Mnookin’s annual retention bonus — which is funded by private, philanthropic dollars — is scheduled to increase each year, up to $350,000 in 2029.
