Fans attending UW sporting events may soon be able to order and pay in advance for their hot dogs and sodas through their smart phones, according to a story at Madison.com. The UW Athletic Department is looking to get more interactive in an effort to improve game-day experiences for fans.

It’s all part of a plan to keep attendance up. A Capital Times report noted that last year (2012-2013), 25% of game tickets purchased for football, basketball, hockey, and volleyball went unused, while attendance for those sports has also dropped 13% in the past six years.

Ideas such as upgrading the concession stands or even live-streaming related events are also being tossed around. Athletic Director Barry Alvarez would like to see as many upgrades as possible for the 2013-2014 season.
