Nearly a decade after losing their union following the passage of Act 10, UW Hospital nurses have decided to unionize again and have asked the hospital board to recognize their collective bargaining unit, according to an article in the Wisconsin State Journal.
Union organizers cited increasingly stressful working conditions, including higher nurse/patient ratios and overcrowded conditions, for their decision. The organizers also say that nurses don’t feel supported by hospital administration and expressed concern that patient care is being negatively affected.
