UW Health opened Eastpark Medical Center in the fall of 2024, and according to the health care provider’s vice president and regional COO, the 475,000 square-foot facility is exceeding expectations.
“We’ve seen some incredible responses from patients and staff to this new space,” Teresa Neely said in a statement. “Our weekly volume for appointments is above what we anticipated.”
The facility averages about 1,050 clinic visits per day, and an average of 4,600 ancillary appointments, like diagnostic work, per day.
Of the patients seen at Eastpark, 22%, or 34,000, were new to UW Health. About one-third of patients live on the east side of Dane County, and another third come from outside the county.
And of the 750 employees at Eastpark, 55% are new hires. Turnover rate for registered nurses is below the national average, at about 4.5%.
“We’re pleased to see that not only do patients want to receive care here, but care team members want to work here,” Neely said.
Eastpark will soon add proton therapy to its care, a precise radiation therapy used for cancer, in spring 2026. Eastpark will be one of the first facilities in the world to offer upright proton therapy, which allows patients to sit in an upright position during treatment, and that will begin in the summer of next year.
Eastpark opened to patients on Oct. 28, 2024.
