A UW anesthesiologist who sued the UW Board of Regents and the former head of her department has received a $180,000 settlement, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report. Dr. Maria Fabbrocini’s 2019 lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Madison against Dr. Robert Pearce and the regents, alleged unequal pay, unequal opportunity, and a hostile work environment for female doctors. The state of Wisconsin, representing Pearce and the regents, agreed to pay $180,000 in a settlement. Fabbrocini will receive $80,000 of the settlement and her attorneys at Pines Bach in Madison will get $100,000.
