The UW athletic department has selected JP Cullen, Berners Schober, and HOK to design and build a new football indoor practice facility, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. The trio also worked on the conversion of Camp Randall Stadium’s south end zone into premium seating ahead of the 2022 season.

The indoor facility was included in the state budget with a proposed cost of $285 million to be covered mostly by athletics program revenue funds. Design work began this week on the facility, which won’t be finished until 2026 under the latest timeline available. Planning has been in-progress since at least 2019.

The main priority in the new space is a 100-yard synthetic turf field with a 90-foot height for kicking and punting. New strength and conditioning, dining, meeting, office, and sports medicine spaces are also aims of the new facility.

Wisconsin is also planning to add a radiant heating system below the Camp Randall Stadium field following the 2023 season. The estimated cost is around $5.5 million.
