The University of Wisconsin athletic department is projecting a significant loss of revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic, which is expected to have a $47 million net impact on its budget, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

The department has cut $26 million in expenses this fiscal year, but the revenue losses compared to income before the pandemic will be around $73 million. Losses stem from lost ticket revenue and decreased sponsorship money.
