UW athletic director Chris McIntosh signed a five-year contract extension that runs through the 2028–29 season and boosts his salary for the 2024–25 school year by 41%, according to the Wisconsin State Journal. His pay will rise from $1.02 million under his previous contract to $1.45 million under the new one, going up by $50,000 each additional year of the agreement.
McIntosh’s new salary is the median of Big Ten athletic directors and is funded through athletic department revenues and gift funds. His contract contains performance incentives as well.
McIntosh’s original five-year contract was signed in June 2021 and effective one month later when he took over for Barry Alvarez. It was set to expire June 30, 2026. McIntosh’s base salary and an additional compensation agreement totaled $1 million during the 2023–24 school year.
