Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) and WEC Energy Group (WEC), through its Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) subsidiary, will partner on two major solar projects at a cost of $390 million, according to an MGE release. The Badger Hollow Solar Farm would be located in Iowa County near Montfort and Cobb and the Two Creeks Solar Farm in the Two Creeks/Two Rivers, Wis. area.
The project developers are Invenergy and NextEra Energy Resources.
Combined, WPS and MGE would own a total of 300 megawatts from the new developments — WPS would own 200 megawatts and MGE would own 100 megawatts. If approved by the end of this year, construction could begin in 2019 with solar generation starting in 2020.
