While new electric vehicle sales aren’t moving quickly, used EV sales have risen 27.7% in March compared to a year earlier, CNBC reported.
The sales were also 53.9% higher than in February, according to the latest data from the EV Monitor from Cox Automotive, a services and software company for the automotive industry.
Of the used EV vehicles sold, 44% were priced under $25,000.
One of the reasons more used vehicles sold is that leased vehicles are being made available after leasing ended, and pricing is getting closer to gas-powered vehicles.
The average price of a used EV in March was $34,653. This represents a 6.1% drop from a year earlier during the same period. That amount is $1,102 higher than the average price of a used gas-powered car.
