The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) have awarded $23.2 million to 30 projects aimed at bolstering Wisconsin’s food supply chain infrastructure, including five projects in Dane County, according to a press release. The funding, part of the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program, supports initiatives that strengthen local and regional food systems, diversify markets, and create economic opportunities for small and mid-sized producers.

Dane County projects receiving funding include:

  • Brix Cider LLC: Facility improvements and equipment for a distillery ($243,594);

  • Community Action Coalition: Development of an equity-driven cold storage and food production hub ($2,483,844);
