US futures rise, oil prices ease ahead of today’s market closure

U.S. futures rose slightly while oil prices declined, the Associated Press reports, but markets will be closed today for President’s Day.

This week, Walmart will report its latest quarterly financial results on Tuesday; the Federal Reserve will release the minutes from its most recent interest rate meeting on Wednesday; and on Thursday, the National Association of Realtors will release its January report on U.S. home sales.

In other trading today, U.S. benchmark crude oil gave up 82 cents to $77.64 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, the international standard, shed 89 cents to $82.58 per barrel.

The U.S. dollar fell to 149.92 Japanese yen from 150.16 yen.
