Urban Triage said Tuesday that if Dane County fails to restore $321,520 in housing-related funding, its ability to support people and families experiencing housing insecurity will be compromised.

The proposed cuts are part of Dane County Executive Melissa Agard’s proposed 2027 budget.

Urban Triage said the funding supported services, including housing navigation and case management, that help residents identify housing options.

This includes support for the homeless in community settings such as shelters.

The organization said the spending cut also jeopardizes nearly $900,000 in combined housing funding and assistance. This includes federal matching resources tied to local funding and service commitments.

“This decision has real implications for people who are already navigating significant barriers to housing,” Brandi Grayson, founder and CEO of Urban Triage, said in a press release. “Housing navigation and case management help people understand their options, connect with available resources and work toward stability.”

This month, the Dane County Board and its committees have been taking public testimony about the proposed budget, with additional standing committee meetings and amendment evaluations taking place through Oct. 29.

The full County Board will meet on Nov. 4 and 5 for budget deliberations and final adoption votes.

All meetings are held at the City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Blvd.
