The proposed 2027 Dane County budget proposed by County Executive Melissa Agard includes a $3 million allocation for the Dane County Sheriff’s Office to purchase body cameras, according to a report in the Wisconsin State Journal.

The county, which is dealing with a projected budget deficit of $15 million, would spend a total of $946.8 million, an increase of about $30.6 million, or 3.3%, over the 2026 budget.

If adopted, the budget would raise the county portion of the average homeowner’s property taxes by about $20.67, or 1.73%.
