Urban League offers professional training, child support legal resources

The Urban League of Greater Madison is offering several resources available to the public, including a Healthcare Administration Training Program, a Job Club and a Child Support Legal Resource Clinic.

The Healthcare Administration Training Program will run Sept. 8-Oct. 2 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Urban League of Greater Madison Southwest Employment Center, 1233 McKenna Blvd. 

The four-week training program, hosted in collaboration with local employers, will cover roles like patient scheduling, patient access and unit coordination as well as training in areas that include:

  • Professional communication and resume building;

  • HIPAA and medical terminology;

  • Hands-on training with EPIC; and

  • Mock interviews.

The Job Club, which runs Fridays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the same location, offers one-on-one support from employment specialists. No appointment or registration is required to attend.

Club attendees will receive career guidance and assistance in polishing their resume, preparing for interviews and discovering job leads.

The next Child Support Legal Resource Clinic, held every third Friday in 2025 at Urban League’s 2222 S. Park St. location, will take place on Sept. 19 from 1-3 p.m.

Held in partnership with Dane County Child Support Agency, UW-Madison Family Court Clinic and Lift Wisconsin, the clinic will help attendees to:

  • Address child support concerns;

  • Create flexible payment plans;

  • Resolve custody and placement questions;

  • Recover their driver’s license; and

  • Access fatherhood support and employment services.
