The Urban League of Greater Madison and Red Cross are offering a free health screening to participating donors in a Sickle Cell Blood Drive tomorrow, June 17.
Many sickle cell patients depend on regular blood transfusions from African American blood donors to treat the effects of the disease. Meanwhile, the number of African Americans donating blood with the American Red Cross has dropped by more than half.
Donations are needed now to help ensure treatments continue uninterrupted. Those interested can register online to donate at the Urban League’s 2222 S. Park St. location between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
