John Hardy, the manager of Madison’s Up North Bar, which is part of the Essen Haus family of bars and restaurants, is set to open a new bar and lounge on Atwood Avenue, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. The Green Room Public House will occupy the former One Barrel Brewing Co. space at 2001 Atwood Ave., most recently home to The Wedge bar, by mid-March.

Hardy has run the Up North Bar for almost 16 years and will open The Green Room with business partner Doug Zarbock. The new spot will offer classic cocktails and 12 tap beers, with high-top bar table seating as well as some couches. Hardy is considering adding pizza and small appetizers as well.

Hardy’s wife, Teresa, will take over management of the Up North Bar starting this Saturday, Feb. 8.
