UnityPoint Health-Meriter announced that Dr. Karyn Baum has accepted the position of chief medical officer (CMO), effective Sept. 3. Baum brings over 25 years of clinical experience and health care leadership to this role.
Baum’s experience includes service as chief transformation officer at Essentia Health, leading efforts to enhance health care delivery and outcomes across the organization.
She has a background in clinical operations, having held multiple leadership positions at MHealth and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, including vice president of System Operations Center, associate CMO, interim CMO, executive medical director for care transitions and patient flow and associate chair for clinical quality.
In addition to her clinical leadership, Baum is an established academic leader, currently serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.
