United Way of Dane County reminds the community of its kickoff event on Wednesday, Aug. 21, which launches this year’s community fundraising campaign. The event will be held from 2:30–4 p.m. at Breese Stevens Field and include an afternoon of family-friendly activities, volunteering, and a chance to sample what United Way has to offer at the Explore United Carnival.

Attendees will receive a free United Way Volunteer T-shirt, participate in games and activities for prizes, enjoy snacks, learn about the community and how to get involved, and create Paper Product ImPacks to be distributed to local families through United Way’s nonprofit partners.

Event sponsors include Strang, Breese Stevens Field, Forward Madison, Madison Gas and Electric, National Guardian Life Insurance Co., and WKOW. In-kind sponsors are Cherished Memories Photo Booth, Girl Scouts of Wisconsin–Badgerland Council, Kona Ice, Madison Gas and Electric, Pepsi-Cola of Madison, and Schoep’s Ice Cream.
