Renee Moe, president and CEO of United Way of Dane County, has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The Distinguished Service Award is presented to alumni of the UW-Madison SJMC for exceptional professional contributions to the fields of journalism and mass communication.

Moe has dedicated over 25 years at United Way Dane County to forging solutions to address the root causes of pressing issues in the local community. Under her leadership, United Way Dane County has helped reduce family homelessness by 50% through housing location and case management; decreased the number of students not reading at proficiency from 29% to 4% in under five years; and mobilized over 405,000 volunteers and raised over $605 million to advance social change.

The UW-Madison SJMC will celebrate Moe and her accomplishments this Friday, April 25, at a ceremony in Madison.
